You need to have a sleeping bag. However, this item is not a frequently used item. You can place it on the bottom of the backpack. 

The heaviest belongings should be placed on top of your sleeping bag close to your spine and centered on your back.

On top of the heavy gear, you can place lighter items such as clothes and parts of tents. Make sure to store mostly used items on the top such as first aid or maps.

  • Lay out everything that you must need on the trip sleeping bag, water bottle, toilet supplies, maps, compass, first aid, warm clothes, food, and other necessities.
  • Place essential items in a group, essential items mean essential not to cheat with the luxury items that might not help in your trip.
  • Now take off from your list those luxury items (at least) half of them you know won’t affect your trip.
